Judith Arslan started this petition to UK Parliament

Changes need to be made to help and support people suffering with mental health issues, and more support for their families.  At present there appears to be very little of either, and families are often left to take care of the person with the illness themselves, which is extremely stressful and at times a frightening scenario as some conditions are worse than others!  There are many forms of mental illness, and all should be able to have full support!  Families should be able to section when needed, but because of current laws, cannot, and if a patient is deemed “corpus mentus”, very little can and is done to help,  just because a person can speak, or wash themselves, does not mean that they are fine, with some mental health issues, the person can turn within seconds and become volatile etc!  This petition is to try and bring changes, changes that not only help and support the person who is ill, but also help and support the families!  Families should be heard, be given rights to request a section, more facilities and centres to house the person that is ill, and more qualified and I mean qualified and not just trained individuals to be on hand to help!   Over the years, help for people with mental health has all but gone, and many are left to walk the streets in their own anguish, with no where to go and no one to help, and many families are left taking the job on as there are no other helpful options!  Laws need changing and they need changing now!  Let’s be those people that take a stand and make a difference, let’s end the suffering!
