For 2 weeks, I have sat and tried to comfort my dog while sporadic fireworks have been going off. She shakes uncontrollably for hours and nothing I do calms her down. This affects countless not only domestic pets, but all animals that we share this country with. I know a cat that hides in a cupboard, I’ve seen news stories of a young dog having a heart-attack and even a dogs being blinded because it’s eyes popped it was so afraid. I’m not asking for us to ban fireworks. What I am asking is to keep it a single night a year and not the two weeks surrounding November 5th.
