Many people aged 16 and 17 are working full time with pay and are in the same situation as adults. So why can't they vote? The government's reasoning is that they are not independent enough to vote without influence. However, this is disproved by the many teenagers working full time and working as carers for their loved ones. Another problem that needs addressing is the youth disengagement in politics. Lowering the vote to 16 would engage more young people in politics and make more people part of the democratic system. Your voice matters!
