Niall Dickson started this petition to UK Parliament

Currently, there are at an average, 1,700 16 - 18 year-olds residing in the United Kingdom. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, some poor some rich. For the poor kids whose parents do not work, University does not seem like a viable option! This is not fair at all. For a liberal country, not supporting the few seems like a traditional broken country. Surely we don't want to be viewed as broken? If the age was lowered, it would give the youth the opportunity to work which helps give them the chance for a good life.

To make this happen, we should petition to the prime minister, Theresa May and implore her to either petition it to parliament or take some action! If we win, our country's economy will raise too with the new workers, as well as creating a country which gives equal opportunity. If we were to lose, the country would remain the same. It would ruin so many opportunities for children.

This is quite a personal case for me, I come from an abusive family who will never back my plans to go to a good school or university. I have to gather the money. If the law were 16, I'd be able to work to save some money up! Otherwise, I fear by 18 I will be living on the streets because of the ridiculous law.

Thank you for reading this. I do hope you sign and help us in our fight to create an equal-opportunities country.
