Link MPs pay increases and decreases to the average national salary

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority controls the pay and benefits of MPs. It is proposing that salaries of MPs should rise by a significant sum, while many private sector workers have suffered pay cuts and public sector workers are limited to a 1% increase. It is offensive and disproportionate to increase MPs pay above the level enjoyed by the average worker. In a world where performance related pay is increasingly the norm, it only seems fair that MPs should similarly be rewarded in line with their collective ability to improve the income of the public. If the average wage increased by 5%, MPs would receive that level of increase. However, if the average wage decreased, this would also be suffered by MPs. This way we would truly 'all be in this together'.
