Khaatumo State of Somalia is a state in North Somalia which is separate to Somaliland based in Hargeisa, Khaatumo State of Somalia believes in the unity of Somalia. Somaliland which is trying to secede from Somalia aggressively attempts to impose its will on the people of Khaatumo. This includes expanding Somaliland's administrative territory in North Somalia by force by invading Khaatumo, arresting the people of Khaatumo for expressing themselves and their unionist beliefs in Khaatumo. International partners of Somalia should not take Hargeisa based Somaliland as the sole representative of the entire people of North Somalia as it gives legitimacy to this behaviour. Khaatumo and Somaliland have attempted to resolve their differences with mediation efforts in Ethiopia and Djibouti coming to an agreement in October 2017, Khaatumo fulfilled its obligations however Somaliland failed to deliver on its obligations resulting in Khaatumo State of Somalia cancelling the Khaatumo-Somaliland agreement in October 2021. International partners of Somalia should recognise Khaatumo State of Somalia and deal with Khaatumo and Somaliland as two separate entities in North Somalia. International partners of Somalia should also condemn Somaliland's behaviour of imposing secessionism aggressively in Khaatumo State of Somalia and other unionist regions in North Somalia. Somaliland administration based in Hargeisa has no legal basis or legal authority to be the sole representative for the whole of North Somalia, Somalilands justification is the former 1960 colonial borders of British Somaliland which cease to exist as North Somalia and South Somalia united in 1960 abolishing these colonial borders. Somaliland's self declared independence in 1991 has no legal merits as no country has recognised the Hargeisa based Somaliland administration. The Khaatumo-Somaliland agreement has failed due to Somaliland's negligence and disingenuity international partners of Somalia should deal with Khaatumo and Somaliland as two separate entities in North Somalia.
