Carole Young started this petition to UK Parliament and

For those having been wrongly convicted of a crime that they did not commit and so served time because there was no access to appeal and now find themselves unable to pursue secular jobs and indeed those vocations in the Anglican Church that would have been open to them had they not been wrongly convicted and served time. This petition is therefore two-fold: (1) The justice system rethink their strategy of appeals with need for fresh evidence, but a compelling and constructive argument that at that time disclosure was not fully granted, nor defence given enough time for response; and (2) That the Church of England take on board the issues surrounding wrongful convictions. In that light, as they take on situations of guilty, and later ordain that person through merit and forgiveness of the church. That the Church of England therefore look on the merit of the individual and take into consideration length and time served, and support them through true and realistic vocation.
