On 3rd November 2019, the Leader of the House of Commons, Jacob Rees-Mogg made unacceptable comments about the victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Rees-Mogg stated that anyone with "common sense" would have ignored the advice of the fire service and tried to leave the burning building, rather than stay in their apartment as instructed.

Not only is this another attempt by the Government to shift the blame for the tragedy away from themselves but it shows a complete lack of empathy and humanity. The comments have been extremely painful for the victims' families and it sparks major concern over his understanding of the ignored concerns highlighted by Grenfell residents in the years preceeding the major fire. Rees-Mogg cannot be allowed to continue in post.
