I lost a leg in June 21 due to Sepsis. Unable to drive my manual car I investigated the motability scheme to help me afford a mobility scooter or an automatic car to enable me to have some level of independence and quality of life.

The mobility component is based on the upper disability living allowance or Personal independance Allowance (PIP)£86pw plus £63 mobility. I was shocked to find that as i am over 65 I don't qualify for either benefit. I do qualify for Attendence Allowance but there is no mobility component with this benefit of £89pw.

Why does the DHSS discriminate new claimants over 65  from becoming independantly mobile and unable to live a life the same as an U65. This is so unfair to basically confine me to a wheelchair and wait for me to die. Change these discrimanatory rules NOW and give me, and others like me, my life back...
