Sam Glasspool started this petition to UK Parliament

There has been millions if not billions of pounds wasted on overpriced public projects which have delivered poor if not scraped end results.

While projects in need of funding that would benefit society In the UK have been left underfunded or de-funded due to a lack of public funds.

The government must be held to account by an independent oversight Committee for public spending.

This could:

- Ensure public sector projects are not selecting preferential vendors who are charging above the expected rates in contracts, compared to the private sector.

- Ensure that public funds sourced by taxation are used to benefit the society of which they are collected and not used to benefit the connections or officials running the government or projects in question.

I would like the government to agree to an independent oversight committee to review public sector projects, contracts, terms and delivery.

To review and scrutinise past large scale projects and decisions in the last 2-5 years and to establish a basis of consistent mismanagement of funds to make a change.

The ongoing independent committee should be a public voice in the discussions for large scale government spending and to ensure citizen scrutiny and trust in the way public funds are handled.
