In South Tyneside we have seen disgusting behaviour from bullying female councillors from male councillors of the opposition. We have seen residents targeted just for asking questions and councillors defacing documents through public meetings with insults directed at the public. If this petition is successful it will hopefully get the government to increase the monitoring office powers to deal with such behaviour. 

We have seen the bullying from elected members get very personal and two male councillors target only one female councillor regularly we have reported this via the monitoring office through the last year as I like others believe its against their constitution to allow elected members to behave like this. This is an issue we have in south Tyneside and it let's residents down because of their inability to deal with elected members behaviour. 

I would like this petition to try and fight to increase monitoring office powers. 

Elected members should be held accountable for their behaviour the only way is via monitoring officers, which is why this petition is important. South Tyneside calls for increased monitoring office powers to deal with councillors behaviour.
