Include reference to the female orgasm in sex education in the UK

I was chatting to some women in their early twenties last night and I'm so saddened to hear that the idea of women actively enjoying sex is still perceived - they thought - by a lot of young people as unacceptable; the notion that a woman is still perceived as a 'slag' if she enjoys sex and takes ownership of her own sexual preferences and activities. I'd hoped this attitude towards women had by now been relegated into the social history bin.

Currently sex education does not include reference to the female orgasm. This is not an equal starting point when educating our children and young people about sexual matters. This can and does lead to inequality in terms of sexual confidence and sexual ownership. It's time for this to change - we should no longer regard the female orgasm as a taboo subject. We should no longer be silenced about this subject, nor ignore it in the sexual education of our young people.

We need to re-fresh sex education at schools. The emphasis being that at the moment it's not really 'sex education' but 'reproductive education' centred around the male orgasm and ejaculation, the focus of pleasure being on males. This petition is to ask for recognition and education awareness the female orgasm and the equal role and benefits of and for women in sexual relationships within sexual education in schools in the UK
