Sue Shone started this petition to UK Parliament

The UK and its citizens are in a state of crisis, the like of which has not been seen in generations. Many of those people on the front line protecting us from the worst of it, caring for strangers and putting themselves and their loved ones at risk, are expected to leave the UK in the next few years. Around 13% of those working in the NHS are not UK citizens ( https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-7783/ Many have already left due to Brexit and/or the increasingly hostile environment (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/nov/24/nhs-winter-crisis-thousands-eu-staff-quit

This is both a national shame and national emergency. If those non-UK staff had already left the UK, it is frightening to imagine where we would be. And where we will be when such a crisis returns if they do leave. We owe our NHS workers a debt of gratitude. Alongside salaries that meet their true value, we should grant those with limited rights to live and work in the UK the full rights many of us enjoy. They should have access to the help and support they need, when they need it, as a positive legacy.
