Get FGM on the agenda

1 in 10 young women in Birmingham are at risk of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), and yet there are a severe lack of services in place to support survivors and deal with the physical and psychological effects of the procedure. We believe that not only should more money be put into funding clinics and counselling services, but also education should be really pushed for so that professionals and the general public know about the issue and create an environment in which victims feel able to speak out about FGM and seek the support they desire, which in turn may hopefully lead to a reduction in the number of cases in the UK.
