In light of the ongoing revelations that the official Leave campaign may have undertaken illegal activities in order to achieve their desired result during the 2016 referendum on the United Kingdom's continuing membership of the European Union, this petition contends that for this reason and other aspects of the conduct of the referendum and its legal foundations the outcome of the vote which took place on 23 June 2016 should be viewed as unsound.

Further to this, alongside the investigations of the Electoral Commission and possible future criminal proceedings, a general Public Inquiry into the entire conduct of the 2016 referendum should be undertaken with scope to consider, amongst other things: it's basis in sound and unambiguous law; the conditions of a conclusive outcome; the legitimate electoral franchise; the significance of devolved constitutional arrangements; the possible role of illegitimate interference by foreign state actors; the possible role of alleged illegal actions taken by an official campaign; the general conclusion of whether the result produced on 23 June 2016 is legally sound and legitimately represents the will of the electorate of the United Kingdom.
