With the astonishing rise of fast fashion in the last 15 years, our planet is facing an  ofter undermined environmental impact caused by garment making. We all have the right to know where our clothes come from. I am starting this petition to demand our policymakers to set up a mandatory, in depth and clear clothing labelling system in the UK. I believe this will foment brand transparency and accountability as well as create more responsible consumers who will be able to make informed decisions at the point of purchase.

We have this facility when it comes to food labelling, why can't we have the same with clothes? 

Currently, the only labelling required on clothing is its country of origin, this is not enough! We need more information! The EU Ecolabel scheme is only voluntary, not widespread and its policies seem outdated. Now we are leaving the EU what will happen with this?. I am demanding clarity on who made our clothes and under what conditions, whether they received a decent wage, were their human rights protected, are these clothes safe for the environment, is it a natural/ synthetic fibre, use of pesticides, water pollution and consumption, greenhouse effects etc. 

This issue affects ALL of us, we all buy and wear clothes. By signing this petition we can continue to do so with the knowledge that we have made the right purchases that don't affect our environment.
