In the UK there are an estimated 2 million people living with a diagnosed food allergy. For these people daily life is a constant task of checking labels, ensuring the food they buy is suitable and doing all they can to prevent an allergic reaction.

Many supermarkets now have a “free-from” range within their stores. These products range from bread to milk to a wide variety of food. 

Allergens include - Dairy (Milk), Gluten (wheat), Eggs, Nuts to name a few, you also have people who suffer with Coeliac disease. 

The reason I have raised this petition is the cost of food from these dedicated “free from” aisles can be double if not triple the price to the non free from product. For example - custard creams, a favourite for many people. The standard custard creams are 40p per packet, however in the free from range they are £1.50! That’s over 3 times as much! 

How is it fair that people already suffering with an allergy which affects their daily life  have to pay so much more for something that is safe for them to eat? 

Do they not deserve a wide varied diet like everyone else?

I’m hoping that someone can help address this and get the price more in line with the non free items!
