PRISON IS PUNISHMENT ENOUGH!

HOW CAN AN INSTUTION BE CREATED TO BRING JUSTICE AND ACT IN CONTRADICTION BY PHYSICAL HARMING? ISN'T PHYSICAL ASSAULT BREAKING THE LAW? 

Yuen will be stripped naked whilst two prison officers inflict maximum pain with a 4ft-long rattan cane, about half an inch in diameter, by flogging him 24 times across his bare buttocks. This punishment is dished out to murderers and rapists.

It's a known fact that most prisoners faint after 3 strikes of the cane. Once the prisoners regain conscious, they carry on canning. Its common for prisoners skin to tear and for the cannes to break multiple times. The prisoners are left with lifelong scaring both on their physical and mental health. Surely, there's a more humane method of retribution in the 21st century.

Prisoner are already deprived of their liberty as punishment, the minimum we should provide them is respect of their inherent dignity as a human being. I believe the corporal punishment Yuen was sentenced to is barbaric and backwards with no beneficial gains for any of the parties involved. I don't understand how Singapore justice system can justify  physically abusing prisoner in their custody. 

Ye Ming Yuen, 29, was caught carrying drugs to share with friends in singapore. He has been ordered to serve 20 years after being convicted of supplying cannabis and methamphetamine. I believe it would be better for Yuen to be transferred to prison in the UK. I hope we all strongly oppose of any physical punishment for all non-violent crimes.
