As a front line agency worker in a carehome, I am yet again now working in a carehome with COVID19.

With workers in the carehome if they get a positive result of COVID19 due to the nature of our work they get full pay in the 2 weeks they have to self isolate.

Everyone else is getting furlo at the moment who can't work due to COVID19.  Sadly us agency workers are getting forgotten about if we have a positive test all we get is statutory sick pay which for doesn't even cover a whole shift.

Without us carehomes would not be able to keep running through these difficult times, we fill in the gaps usually when carehomes are lacking in staff, due to holidays and people off sick etc.

Now imagine a carehome gets COVID19 within it's walls how many staff will go off sick?

How important are us agency workers which everyone takes for granted?

How many agency worker would want to go to a carehome knowing they have the virus?

Knowing that if they were to get the virus no one is going to help them pay the bills?

It's a losing situation for everyone, because those carehomes wouldn't be able to get the staff needed to cover the sick leave.

Which means residents won't be getting a good quality of care.

Also on top of this the remaining staff will be under a lot of pressure and moral will be low which means they are more likely to get ill themselves.

If there's not enough staff to go around then the virus is also more likely to spread.

So please for everyone not just us agency workers sign this petition and ask the uk government to give us the protection that everyone else gets.

We are doing the same job as everyone else we are just as important and we deserve equal rights.
