Patrick S started this petition to UK Parliament

For years the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square has given artists and viewers alike an opportunity to discuss art and cultural issues, provided entertaining, visually appealing and thought provoking artworks. We put forward the suggestion that this plinth provides a worthy location for a statue of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a woman who has inspired hundreds of millions of people throughout the world and devoted her life to public service. We the undersigned call upon the government to commission and erect this statue for an official unveiling by Her Majesty, to coincide with her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. It will not only stand as a symbol of our love and appreciation for all Her Majesty has done for other people and commemorate the significant achievements of her reign, but will give the country something to look forward to and celebrate. Furthermore it will serve as a catalyst for statues of other long overlooked, great women, who have contributed so much to our history and lives. Lastly, as Her Majesty is the most famous living person, it would prove popular with tourists and citizens alike.

With the demands on the Government purse following the COVID-19 pandemic, we suggest that the sculpture should be paid for by public subscription and private donations.
