Encompass Family & Criminal law. Recognising and Protecting Abuse Victims.
Another issue relating to a climate change...
Domestic abuse & Child abuse are still hidden & underpunished crimes. (Physical, emotional, sexual, financial, coercive control....)
Losing your child to their abuser in a contact hearing by them simply saying you are a liar and are trying to alienate them is horrifically common today. As is, a DA victim losing their child into foster care or adoption, for being a victim of violence. A good parent is then often wrongly criminalised, gagged, tagged or imprisoned for trying to expose their torture & for fighting for justice.
Our future generations will suffer overwhelming psychological trauma and displacement. What is the family court creating?
Perpetrators begin the abuse with their unwittingly innocent partner and then use the child as their weapon if the partner dares to separate. The child now in their custody, is trapped and trained to accept abuse and favour the abusive parent. No alternative available..and you get no contact at all!
No matter what the victims disclose, or what obvious reports or evidence is available, there is no support or justice. A child can choose to return to the good parent 10 years later, but the authorities still won't help, even when the child victim again discloses. SS try to lure the child away with offers of a flat etc This because the good parent was initially called a liar in inaccurate reports.
Family courts must begin fully investigating these cases that are brought before them. Carry out a life history assessment to include logs of any reported incidents whether there were charges made or not. This from not only the victim but from the Police, GP's, Schools or any other relevant parties - (who all need to update their recognition skills, recording & reporting systems). Cross reference allegations with dates, times, locations and incidents. Complete the jigsaw.
Some victims are unable to initially remember or even recognise that they are being abused. This is their normal. It should be down to investigative personnel to investigate, ask correct & clear questions. If they do not, they too, are aiding & abetting. They are meant to be the 'professionals'.
Family courts should not just be about money and visitation. It should be about protection too. Protection from harm and further victimisation. Also offering specialist support & wellbeing services.
Most of us end up in the family courts because of some form of abuse. However, It is a crime to unjustly destroy a family for reporting a crime!!
Family courts must become one unit. Encompassing not only family law but criminal law.
