Debs Geaves started this petition to UK Parliament

In these times of trying to bring about equality and inclusivity for all one thing appears to have been completely overlooked.

There are now lots of different gender options and we can choose our pronouns on social media and on company emails to ensure inclusivity and that we don't make assumptions about people's gender.

When completing forms Gender has numerous choices and often has a "Prefer not to say" box. This is progressive and inclusive but then you get to the Title box and we go back to the dark ages.

Whist men can simply tick the box "Mr" without much thought, women have to declare their marital status when choosing their title.

Mrs - married women

Miss - unmarried women

Ms - old and unmarried, chosen as there is no better option

Men are not required to state if they are young, old, married or unmarried. And those that identify as a different gender must really struggle with this.

Whilst one answer would be for us all to tick Mr, this may lead to problems on official documents.

There are lots of positive moves for society to be more inclusive, respectful and diverse so surely it is time for a gender neutral. equal option or preferably ditch titles altogether?
