Demand on making ‘Upskirting’ a criminal offence in England

Upskirting is the act of taking a photograph of underneath a person’s skirt without their consent. At the moment this is legal under England’s legislation and not considered to be a criminal offence.

Taking indecent photographs of an individual without their consent is a criminal offence in the UK. I don’t see a difference between these acts and find it so demeaning and irresponsible how one is considered an offence and the other isn’t under the same legislation.

Today 15/06/18 Tory MP Sir Christopher Chope objected the bill to make upskirting illegal.

I believe it should be a criminal offence as it is taking away someone’s privacy and freedom, it also makes others vulnerable and able to fall victim of this crime.

A specific law on upskirting in Scotland already exists, and I think England should take after their example and amend this law on upskirting.

I want justice for anyone who has fallen victim to upskirting, especially those who do not have a voice or confidence to admit it, children as young as 10 years old have fallen victim to this and I simply won’t stand for it any longer.

Please sign this petition to show your support and hopefully make Upskirting illegal.
