Change the way the NHS treats mental health issues

Like many people nowadays, I suffer with mental health issues. I have never felt the way they are seen and treated by the NHS is acceptable but right now, this evening, I am sat in my car with my best friend who is desperate for help, she has spent over an hour on the phone to 111, the crisis team and the mental health team. She has been cut off twice and has been on hold for 25 minutes of nearly an hour talking to 3 different departments. It is disgusting. She, like many others, is starting to question why she should help herself when no one else wants to help her.
It is obvious that mental health isn't seen with the same importance as physical health and this isn't the only instance I have experienced and whitnessed this kind of disregard towards invisible illnesses.
Something needs to be done. Something needs to change before someone else ends their life due to lack of care given.
