Too many young girls are dying because the UK refuses to lower the smear test age for cervical cancer. The HPV virus is more common than we think and can be present from any age when a girl because sexually active, which is common around the age of 16. Denying women the right to test for cervical cancer, is a denial of human rights. It is our right to know if we have the virus or not so we can prevent it from becoming dangerous and turning into cancerous cells. This is for our best chance of survival. In Canada and other places around the world the smear test is available from the age of 18 or when a girl becomes sexually active. It is not denied. This should be the case for the UK. It is shocking that young girls can have symptoms of cervical cancer, but be denied a smear test. I am writing this petition for all women out there who want their best chance of survival. The HPV virus is more common than we think and a lot of the time it shows no symptoms. Therefore our only hope of knowing if something is wrong, or if we have HPV or abnormal cells is through a smear! I  am starting this petition for all women out there and for those families with daughters. We all deserve the right to a smear and we all deserve the right to survival. Sign now to change the government age restriction on the smear test to age 18!
