My son is 10. He is the only child I ever see in my village wearing a helmet whilst riding his scooter. He is picked on by other children for wearing it even though I’ve told him it could save his life.

There is no British law to compel cyclists, of any age, to wear helmets when cycling, even though the Highway Code suggests that cyclists should wear a cycle helmet“which conforms to current regulations, is the correct size and securely fastened.”

Isn’t it about time a law is passed to make everyone who rides a bike or scooter legally HAVE to wear a helmet to protect them?

I for one am sick and saddened to see the amount of head injuries due to this. It isn’t an expensive item to purchase but could save a life.
