Nicola Wells started this petition to UK Parliament

This is a petition to ban the use of fireworks in gardens.

The use of fireworks causes a massive amount of disruption to people’s lives, especially those with children, pets, the elderly who may live alone and those that suffer with mental health issues including anxiety and PTSD.

Organised and controlled firework displays on designated nights of the year offer those that enjoy fireworks the opportunity to attend and celebrate events in a safe and secure environment away from built up residential areas.

Fireworks are being set off all year round and this is totally unacceptable for those who reside in neighbouring houses.

An example of my most recent experience with fireworks being set of in my next door neighbours garden...

No notification of the display was given, the display started at 8pm and lasted until 10.30pm. Fireworks debris pelted my house and 3 year old sons bedroom window for the full 2.5 hours, the noise caused my 1 year old and 3 year old to be woken in complete uncontrollable hysterics on 3 occasions and my dog almost died from the complete fear she was forced to endure for most of the evening and my garden and two cars were littered with firework debris including gun powder, wood, cardboard and plastic. My husband was on nights on this occasion and I had to deal with all of this on my own. I felt unsafe and helpless in my own home and my dog couldn’t even go outside to do her business, she was that terrified she had an accident all over the living area downstairs which I woke up to the following morning.

The law regarding fireworks leaves us with no choice but to endure these horrific ordeals all year round.

Fireworks should not be sold to the public. Our government, those that are in some of the most senior, influential and powerful positions in this country, who are there to protect and serve the people of this country have the ultimate responsibility to ensure they take serious and permanent action against the use of fireworks by members of the public to ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of those who seek to live comfortably without disruption are fully met.

I appreciate those that have taken the time to read this and would appreciate (if you are in agreement) a signature and to share this petition far and wide to give the people of this county a voice.

We should not be begging or pleading with the government to action this request.

Thank you.
