Allow students to have a say about the changes within the education system in the UK.

What are we trying to achieve?

  • Our goal is for students around the country to be able to elect candidates (approved by teachers) from each borough to form a democratic group of young individuals. These students will be able to have an impact on decisions made regarding the education system.

Why?

  • It's a common known fact that the education system is run by adults whom often haven't been to school for over a decade. These people decide every thing that occurs in the schooling system. They decide the grading system, the exam papers, and some of the rules within schools. Did you know that the education system overall has barely been changed in over 100 years? The following image depicts a way the current education system is failing us. It shows a teacher sitting in front of several different animals asking them to climb a tree. Obviously this is virtually impossible for some of the animals such as the fish. In the same way the animals are all different so are each and every pupil so asking them to sit down and answer the exact same exam is the same as asking a fish to climb a tree. http://thecompanion.in/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/education-system.png
  • So why is this fair? Why is someone, who doesn't actively go to school, allowed to be the sole decision maker in the matters that concern us and our future? It is this type of thinking that drives us to be represented by someone who understands us, the pupil and school life.

We hope you decide to sign this petition and help make our goal come true.

Thank You
