Why this petition matters

Started by Thom Kirkwood

As a recipient of a Global Advocacy Award, I beleive we need to deliver interim solutions with compassion, honesty and transparent, and that we have a global societal obligation. One which is pragmatic, supportive, enabling, enforceable and transparent to all existing citizens and refugees who need our help.

Alleviate the humanitarian challenges of refugees

Provide an period of stability and security.

We hereby call on the government of the United Kingdom and its partner nation administration in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, to commit to the mirroring the so called ‘Temporary Protection Directive’ of the EU. This was brought in to address challenges in the aftermath of Yugoslav war. The objective being to offer Ukrainians a legal status to remain within the UK for up to one year, thus avoiding jamming up our national systems. This should include a temporary residence permit and workers permit. It must also include up front both the exit plan and the application to remain process.  Up front and transparent, protecting and supportive.
