Allergen Labelling Law for pre-packed for direct sales (#PPDS)

In light of the above legislation which came into force on 1st October 2021, I would like to make everyone aware that I believe it does not go far enough in terms of specific groups of people.

Yes, allergen labelling is very important, especially to a lot of people who sadly suffer from allergenic responses, however, there are also many thousands of Type 1 diabetic sufferers who examine (as I do as a father to a diabetic child) all food packaging looking for the nutritional data, especially carbohydrates - this information is sadly and inexplicably missing from this legislation and I am wondering if anyone has actually considered anyone but allergy sufferers.
Without knowing the carbohydrate value of a product, the majority of diabetics will not purchase, so, not only is this legislation discriminating against a very large portion of the population, retailers are also missing out on a very large group of customers for whom they are not catering and therefore losing a potentially large profit. All areas of 'made for direct sale' should, in my opinion, and this includes all street vending sites, sandwich shops etc, be obliged to display, or at least have access to, this information.
Twice in the last year I have requested this type of information from two high street supermarkets who would not, or could not give me the information I needed when I have purchased 'made for direct sale' products - they both hid behind the fact they did not need to give this information because they were made for direct sale - at least now they will have to include allergens which neither of them did before.
I think that, and I know a lot of people will be shouting about the costs etc. but, everyone involved in the food industry whether a stall or multi-national, should have the information that ALL their customers need to stay safe and well.

It is heart breaking when on holiday, your child asks for an ice-cream and you say no because the seller has no idea what you are talking about when you request the carbohydrate value.

I am now calling for the UK Government and all food producers/purveyors of food products to display the nutritional data on all 'direct for sale' products so that the health and safety of a very large portion of the population who seem to have been forgotten can be assured.
