During the Covid-19 outbreak, many sectors have gone way above and beyond the call of duty to help maintain the health and well-being of our society.

In some instances these workers are rightly being given significant bonuses by their employers to reflect the hard and often risky work these people have undertaken to keep vital supplies and utilities functioning for the country.

One of the most significantly affected sections of society is the healthcare sector where many people are risking their health everyday in the face of difficult circumstances, and often are  the subject of abuse from members of the public. We all get up and grit our teeth and get on with it through our sense of duty of care to their patients, communities, service users, and more. The NHS is not a big business which can reap the profits of this significant upturn in trade and pay their overworked staff members a thank you bonus so I would propose that these people be given a significant tax break as a show of gratitude.

If the government can bail out banks for ruining the economy, and help big businesses to support their struggling workforces while those who own the companies protect their multi billion pound fortunes, then surely allowing the hard working NHS and healthcare sectors to keep the tax and NI they pay every month during this crisis is only fair!
