The government has announced a pay rise of 1% to NHS staff. After what the NHS staff have done this last year to save lives, this amount is insulting. It has always been an unspoken rule that nurses will not strike, the government is cynically taking advantage of this in not giving NHS staff  a decent pay rise. I would like the government to reconsider and give the NHS staff a pay rise commensurate with their heroic efforts  throughout the pandemic and of course in more normal times.
