Stop the closure of RUSH skatepark in stroud
Save a Skatepark that matters.
RUSH Skatepark in Brimscombe port, near Stroud, where 2 Olympic medalists trained during the pandemic, has been served notice by Stroud District Council to vacate the premises by the end of the month.
Team GB's Charlotte Worthington who won an Olympic Gold medal in Tokyo, trained here for BMX freestyle. As did Declan Brooks who brought home a Bronze.
The council's move is to make way for redevelopment of the site, with no provision for replacing the community's skatepark.
Skaters and riders will now need to travel as far as Cardiff to experience a skatepark with similar but far more limited facilities.
If we keep losing skateparks we end up with less for young people to do and fewer prospects for diverse sportspeople to emerge.
Save a Skatepark..... Please...
