Stop Government plans to cut funding for our schools
This petition had 745 supporters
Under new plans by the Government, our schools could face a devastating three per cent drop in budget.
This could see teaching jobs cut, increased numbers of children in each class, extra-curricular activities scrapped and teaching assistant jobs at risk as schools seek to balance their books.
The proposed new National Funding Formula will see hundreds of school in south Essex lose out.
Southend is one of four areas in the country - and the only one outside London - that will see every one of its schools hit.
We have launched a campaign demanding a rethink of the proposals which have caused an outcry from parents, teachers and politicians of all political parties.
Now we are urging our readers to have their say.
Please show your support by putting your name to the petition and rally the Government to rethink these devastating cuts.
