What a waste of time and tax payers money by locking people up in prisons instead of giving them the chance to rehabilitate.  This needs to change as it serves no purpose whatsoever.  Prisoners need help to get themselves better through counselling, and therapies instead of being locked up.  This is an outdated system which needs to change with the times to build a better society instead of carrying on with an out dated, merciless system.  We call ourselves civilized yet we punish people and make them worse instead of getting them better.  Especially where some don't even get a chance to tell their side of the story. It is cruel and inhumane to lock up people.  In addition so many  innocent people are locked and accused wrongly because the justice system is too busy to look into each case properly. Rehabilitate instead of prison is the answer for this so called advanced world where every other aspect of our lives are updated for betterment.  Why carry on with an outdated,  centuries old prison/justice system?
