Samantha Cartwright started this petition to UK Government and

As a photographer, ex model, content creator and, most importantly, woman I would like to see an end to brands, and influencers posting images of women where the bodies have been edited without making it clear to their platform.

Influencers and fashion brands have huge platforms made up of girls and women of all ages, showing models with their bodies nipped, tucked, trimmed and enhanced without making it clear the changes that have been made with editing tools, is irresponsible and harmful.

Unrealistic body images like those shown by many influencers and fashion brands are causing body dysmorphia, negative body image and other mental health problems in women and girls.

Edited bodies can also be triggering for people who suffer from eating disorders.

With the next generations getting on line, and bombarded with the images that will shape how they see themselves, and the world around them earlier and earlier every year, it’s more important than ever that they see the truth behind the pictures they surrounded by.

Whist, ideally , I would like to see an end to images edited like this being shared at all, for now, let’s at least be clear about what it is that we’re all looking at.

Thank you all for your help.

Sam
