Naomi Stella started this petition to Government

For victims of sexual abuse, the police officers they report crimes to is often the first person they turn to.  Imagine being that vulnerable and having them respond in such a way that you are made to feel like they don't believe you.  This can also lead to court officials expressing similar doubts, and belittling the victim.  Ultimately, this often leads to the victim being too afraid to go ahead with the justice process in the fear of not being believed.

It is too late for me, having been let down twice by the same police force,  but my mission now is to make it safe for other survivors to step forward.  This change will impact the lives of survivors, their families and the law officials dealing with them as well.

This will, in turn, create a safer community where everybody feels heard and valued.  It is so important that, while the defendant should be innocent until proven guilty, that the victim should also be believed unless proven otherwise.
