Terry Kitto started this petition to UK Government and Parliament

In light of Welsh social care workers receiving a tax free £500 bonus, this petition argues that ALL KEY WORKERS in the United Kingdom should not be taxed during the Covid-19 pandemic and be refunded tax accumulated since lock down officially started.

UK key workers have been working selflessly, with many doing over time, and putting themselves and loved ones at risk as a consequence. Others have been forced to vacate their own homes to continue working. They have been doing this whilst under immense physical and mental exhaustion, with many claiming anxiety, depression and PTSD as a result of working through Covid-19. Furthermore, key workers are having to support family members who have been furloughed/ made redundant.

Donations and clapping are lovely signs of respect and are greatly appreciated. But it is not enough. To go to work, with many putting their lives at risk, to then be taxed on minimum/ low wages, is a kick in the teeth. Given the present circumstances, the very least the government and private companies can do is give all present key workers a tax exemption considering they are keeping public services and integral industries above water.

We're all either key workers ourselves or have friends, relatives and neighbours who are. We all rely on the services provided by key workers. Sign this petition and let's get this to the Houses of Parliament. 10,000 signatures for the government to respond. 100,000 signatures for them to debate this topic in Parliament.
