Why this petition matters

Started by John Fennelly

During the 1st lockdown we were given no clear information on whether we were allowed to continue instruction. We were told keyworkers... but still it was not clear. Now we face another lockdown and have been told we can not work. It is certainly safer being an a sanitised car with windows open and both parties wearing masks than what it is collecting children from school or in the supermarket. When lockdown has ended all our learners will need to spend lots more money and time that they don’t have to get back to the standard of driving required to pass a test. We want to keep going, keep these people maintaining their skills and ready for when they do get a new test date. Let’s think of why these people want to drive. Are they caring for a loved one who is disabled? Do they need a car for a job so that they can provide for their family? So many different reasons why these people need to keep learning. Us as ADI’s/PDI’s, we have families to support, businesses to keep and we are told to call Universal Credits... and they say prepare a CV.... we have to pay the DVSA for our qualification so most certainly shouldn’t been creating a CV for a new job. Please let us continue to instruct in the safe, sanitary & COVID-19 way we have been!!
