On July 22 around 10 pm my father Stanley Sochor was physically assaulted when he attempted to stop a person from beating their dog. This happened in Evanston, Wyoming at the Evanston Middle School parking lot. My father was walking his 2 dogs when the event occurred. He attempted to verbally redirect the person and the person proceeded to beat him. The assailant is a 16 year old minor and my father is 68 years old. At this time there is an open investigation of the crime and my father has undergone surgeries for his injuries. My father suffered fractures to most of his face and a brain bleed. His left orbital lobe and right cheek bone were so damaged that they had to put a plates in. After 4 hours of surgery he now has 3 plates in his face. At this time he is recovering and we are awaiting the arrest of his assailant. I am starting this petition to push for the assailant to be tried as an adult. This is a community problem and something needs to be done. For a person to harm an elderly person to the extent that he did there must be consequences. I grew up in Evanston, WY and it saddens me to think that such a crime can happen here. The reality is that nobody is safe if we allow perpetrators of crimes such as this to not have to answer for their actions. I am not only seeking justice for my family, I want to create an awareness for our community. No one should have to go through what my father and my family has gone through due to the actions of this person.
