WALK IT OUT!!! Change Graduation for UHV Houston Students Back to a Houston/Katy Location

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

As graduate students, we have worked hard and diligently to meet the obligations of our current degree programs. We have all sustained loss and inconveniences due to Harvey. However, to change our graduation from Katy to Victoria and from a Saturday to a Friday, places a tremendous strain on all of us and those who planned to support us by attending. Our graduation signifies a huge accomplishment for us. At this point, several of us will not be able to attend graduation. Traveling from Houston to Victoria on a Friday, making a graduation that starts late in the evening and then traveling home afterwards is just one of the many issues. Some of us have family and friends who planned to attend and are traveling from outside of the Houston/Katy area.

We understand that changes have happened due to Harvey. Ms. Gresham has told us that you all made the best decision and our options are to make this graduation, graduate later or cancel the entire graduation.

We do not agree that the best decision was made. The decision certainly was not made in consideration of our best interests as students and excited graduates. We know this is not possible because we were not polled to at least have our voices and concerns heard.

We respectfully ask that a venue in the Houston/Katy/Sugarland area is considered. There are a number of churches and venues in this area that would make it possible for all of us to WALK. We deserve to WALK. We have worked  hard to get to this stage and to learn that many of us will no longer walk is distressing.

We the UHV students of Houston would like to "WALK IT OUT" and celebrate our accomplishments on a Saturday in Houston!!!!!
