STOP THE CUTTING DOWN OF MAPLE TREES ON WESBROOK CRES.

At the December CAC meeting the UEL office stated they had safety concerns about the older Maple Trees flanking both sides of Wesbrook Cres. Consequently, they are planning to cut them down 15 at a time to replant smaller trees, which they stated "would result in a drastic change."  These mature trees provide a lovely accent to the street, providing shade, reduce down traffic noise, reduce pollution and provide a natural barrier to the higher buildings on West Mall on UBC as well as a habitat to birds and other wild life.  The community would like to explore alternate solutions to cutting these trees down. The community feels that, at this time, this would be a rash decision.  The residents feel that this would result in another drastic change to that street and neighbourhood.  The community would like to explore alternatives to cutting the tress down and obtain an objective opinion from an outside Arborist prior to this going forward. If you are in agreement and support getting an outside opinion with respect to the safety of these trees kindly sign.  Thank you.
