UEG FOR NCEA SENIOR STUDENTS
UEG FOR NCEA SENIOR STUDENTS
As a former student, I am surrounded by those who come from different backgrounds, cultures, communities with all different perspectives of life and goals. Many students base their lives over these grades which determine their future snatching these opportunities does make NCEA any less INNOCENT. For the first time living the NCEA student life during a pandemic did not just cause stress it caused much more. NCEA was considerate to introduce the UEG system however were just as considerate to take it back.
2021 had made it seem much less condensed with the pile of work shoving us back into our holes the Unexpected Derived Grades gave us hope and another chance to redeem ourselves. Bringing back these UEGs gives us NCEA level 1 students who are now NCEA level 2 students a chance, right from the beginning when we were introduced to this we had an easy start the pressure, the stress, the fear leads to much more. NCEA believes that their students must remain under breathable conditions. I am addressing this to all students, WE want this change and we know we need this change. As our year group were introduced into college suddenly the RESUB rule commenced, WHY? why has this opportunity for hardworking students been taken away? So why should this UEG opportunity be taken away once again? I am well aware of my fellow friends and peers who spend sleepless nights striving for Excellence but falling back down grades, we have understood that yes it may be our mistakes at times however completely eliminating the system has created so many levels of fear. Not only this fear has effected our mental well being, this fear is being used as a situation much worse. To the point that many students do not understand what they would be be without academic success. My message is as our first year of NCEAL begun with UEGs it must end with UEGs, we are not asking for a easy pathway WE ARE ASKING FOR LESS STRESS.
We only ask for clarification that our future our careers our generation has the opportunity to live in a standardised life knowing we are safe. We all have understood that NCEA have used credits as life and death situation. Seeing the most hardest working students fall back from a E to NA because they simply did not give some brief explanation does not simply demoralise it ruins their self confidence.
We want answers.
