TEAMSTERS LOCAL 2010 started this petition to UCLA HEALTH VICE CHANCELLOR, CEO Vice Chancellor and CEO John Mazziotta and

UCLA Health employees at the patient communication centers (PCC) continue to endure unhealthy working conditions such as mismanagement, extreme micromanaging, bullying, and pressure to hit unrealistic quality assurance numbers. Many staff are getting physically sick from the stress and terminated for speaking out.

Because of the high turnover, poor planning, and mismanagement, call center staff are expected to assist patients with scheduling in departments they have not been adequately trained for and without notice. They are expected to perform with no errors and cannot spend the time needed with each patient without fear of punishment. They are constantly monitored for taking a break and can't leave their seats without fear of being counseled.

UCLA Health PCC staff who speak up against the negative impact on patients and staff because of the mismanagement and toxic environment they work in, are being retaliated against. Some have even been terminated for speaking out and are falsely accused of purposely hanging up on patients.

The staff and their union have met with management several times over the last two years and offered suggestions to improve the working conditions, yet, nothing is changing. UCLA health leadership is ignoring their desperate cries for help. UCLA PCC needs leadership that cares about their workers and patients, not just the numbers. Staff is expected to show great respect and caring for patients -“CICARE” -but management is not held to the same standards when it comes to the treatment of its workers.  Workers feel like robots not human beings. They are quitting everyday and the calls are backing up so much they had to route them back to the clinics to help answer.

Sign this petition to send a message to John Mazziota, Vice Chancellor and CEO and Johnese Spisso, President of UCLA Health- that change is needed at the PCC immediately. We need a full investigation of the retaliation, unhealthy working conditions, and demand to bring our workers back!
