After taking up my multiple sexual assault cases with UCI Sigma Pi and experiencing endless victim-blaming and incompetence on their end at taking proper action on these members, I decided to bring the issue up to UCI Sorority and Fraternity Life.

Upon emailing their head advisor I was treated with zero empathy and instead faced their "protocol" that immediately shared my sensitive story with the OEOD Title IX office. Once getting in touch with both UCI CARE AND the OEOD Title IX office, information was consistently miscommunicated and the name of the fraternity that I had complained about was not even documented properly. They had written down that I was sexually assaulted by a fraternity that did not even exist.

Their lack of response and failure to empathize as well as their inconsistencies became so frustrating that I became hopeless with no other on-campus resources to go to. I had requested multiple times that I would be put in touch with a detective from UCI's police department that typically handles cases like these. I specifically said many times that I wanted to go through with that and to send me the information right after our meeting. I never got reached out to by the detective or the Title IX officer after that. 

Sigma Pi has had a history of sexually assaulting others and it is not just my two experiences that make up that history. Along with their unfortunate pattern of hurting others, their inability to respond properly is also a common theme among other victims that have asked for help. 

This is why is it unacceptable for SFL to be awarding Sigma Pi in areas which surround accountability and responsibility. It proves that UCI SFL severely lacks in their management as the awards that were given out were determined by how well each chapter was able to talk up themselves and fill the list of their achievements with white lies. If SFL had actually taken the time to observe how each chapter works and if they had actually listened to victims that come to them, maybe things would be different. 

I am demanding that:

1. UCI SFL at the BARE MINIMUM suspends or expels the UCI sigma pi fraternity. 

2. UCI SFL revokes all awards that were given to sigma pi at the recent award ceremony.
