Start UCA Cult Film Society

Over the past month or so, I've been planning and getting in contact with University for the Creative Arts' Student Union to start a society at the Farnham Campus for watching Cult Film. After having a lecture based around Cult film in Year 1 Film Production, myself and several other students seemed really passionate about watching Cult Films.

So since then I've been trying to set up the society, which would get students together to watch various kinds of cult films: The 'So Bad it's Good' films (e.g. Plan 9 From Outer Space, The Room), the really odd films (e.g. The Evil Dead, Big Trouble in Little China) and the classics that gained huge followings (e.g. Taxi Driver, Akira).
Obviously there is already a Film based Society at Farnham, which is one of the Student Union's main concerns, and they believe more than one society would perhaps confuse students. So I thought I'd start this petition to see if more students would be excited about this prospect. There's also an International Film Society at the university currently, and what people have loved about that society, is that it added another side of the film world for Students to engross themselves in. Something I believe a Cult Film Society would also do for students, as there's such a rich range of films to sit down and watch together.

This is something I'm going to be discussing with the Student Union further, and see if I can persaude them to give the go ahead for this. But if students were to sign this, I believe it would definitely help.

Many Thanks,
