It is very important to allow equal opportunity for people of color's academic advancement. UC's current ratial facts and statics are unacceptable.

Because my grandson was an AB student in high school and was not accepted at main campus for freshman year! He is still an AB student at Raymond Walters. I didn't realize this was happening, now it's clear!!

I'm signing because I agree. The contents in this letter are small examples of the harsh racist environment within the university.

As a UC alumn and taxpayer, I am concerned about the lack of focus in the areas of diversity and inclusion at the University.

It is my belief that any Public University, UC included, has a responsibility to maintain a bidirectional relationship between the itself and the community that surrounds it. One important part of this mutually beneficial relationship is to ensure that the university's students, faculty and staff are representative of its home community: the City of Cincinnati. Like many universities, UC has chosen to address slashed state subsidies by increasing enrollment standards, offering more merit-based (vs. need-based) student support, and consistently increasing and other student fee-based tuition revenue...while decreasing full-time and tenure-track faculty positions. Each of these budget responses, has played an important role in the decline of African American students and/or Black male faculty members.
More democratic approaches to budget decisions and a stronger commitment to representation from the surrounding community would be steps in the right direction.

UC needs to be an inclusive university that stands for collaboration, inclusion, and progress. as an institution it can change and I believe even the people currently there can change, but there must be change.
