In order to address academic stress on a system-wide level, we are proposing two non-instructional days per quarter at UC Davis. These non-instructional days would occur between the end of instruction and the start of final examinations. A non-instructional day is a day without class instruction or campus events.

The purpose of a non-instructional day is to give students more time before the start of finals to prioritize well-being and practice self-care. We are advocating for two non-instructional days before finals (not including weekends).

Instead of falling behind in mental health services for students like most universities, we want UC Davis to be put on the map as the university who has set the bar for mental health services on college campuses.
