Emily P. started this petition to UC Davis

We have lost access to equipment, facilities, guest speakers, on-campus resources, networking opportunities, and university hosted events (picnic day!) - amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars in operational cost reductions at UC Davis.

This petition initiates a collective bargaining agreement with the University.

UC Davis defines tuition as, “Charges to a student for instructional and operating costs of the campus.”

Due to Covid-19, the University has been forced to suspend ALL campus operations. Including lighting, water, heating, sports facilities, research centers, etc. of all University buildings.

Covid-19 has virtually eliminated the operational costs of the University that had been factored into our tuition costs.

Thus, the Students of UC Davis are firmly requesting that the University provide a severely detailed Itemized Cost Breakdown, outlining all of the fees, and examining the operational costs of University property that had been previously accounted into our tuition.

Should the University determine that a tuition-reduction is not justified, it must provide a detailed justification for this decision.

This justification should include a rigorous explanation of how an online education could possibly be of equal or greater value than in-class instruction.

Note to Students:

It is preposterous to think that the University could EVER argue that operational costs have not been significantly reduced until the end of the quarter, and potentially, year.

Further, the University has agreed to pro-rate housing cost for students, but this says nothing of the entire student population that has had Our educational experience severely degraded as a result of this
