On November 2nd 2018 Ubisoft announced that they will make adjustments to maps and icons in Rainbow Six Siege to ensure compliance to laws in "Asian territories". While it is not clearly stated which countries are specifically meant many people agree that these changes are made to obey Chinese laws. Despite Ubisoft officials stating that there will still be a seperate build of the game for China they say that they still need to censor the global version of the game in order to work more efficently.

While this may make sense from a developer point of view many community members think that this act of online censorship is unacceptable on a global level and that Ubisoft should rather make two completly seperated versions instead of effecting all 35 million players because of laws in one single country.
